Description

Halloween Hermit Crabs are some of the largest of the most commonly kept hermit crab species. These hermit crabs are typically found living within conch shells and are most well-known for their vibrantly striped orange legs. Similar to many other species of hermits kept as clean-up-crew, Halloween Hermits are omnivorous and will consume both a wide variety of nuisance algae as well as any uneaten meaty foods that may settle onto the sandbed or rockwork. Due to their larger size, these hermit crabs may occasionally topple over smaller or unsecured corals, causing irritation to the tissue. Additionally, these crabs may target larger snails for new shells as they grow if not provided with suitable empty shells.
